OUR STORY
Undressed was born from the desire for an alternative, a healthier more holistic approach to hairdressing and to challenge conversations and expectations around what is considered great hair.
Although the beauty industry has evolved in recent years to make space for the holistic perspective and to be au natural, many hair salons are still operating with processes that not only damage hair, but present only one version of it - highly processed hair that doesn’t showcase true diversity.
Is hair only beautiful when it is colored, heated or styled into submission? We don’t think so. We say, let hair do it’s thing, embrace it’s flow, wave or natural curl. We recognize vibrant, shiny hair at the peak of it’s health to be the goal.
Fundamental to our philosophy and customer approach is that our environment and processes are not just safe but restorative.
The Undressed method is low maintenance but highly curated. Our stylists work with hair in an intentional way, so that the look is effortless to reproduce at home. We encourage ready-to-wear hair as the cut does the majority of the work. With a bit of care and attention, you can essentially wash and go.
About our Founder
Chris takes responsibility for his clients happiness and self confidence seriously. He recognizes that hair has a profound psychological impact on his clients and believes each person sits down with a hope to rediscover themselves through their hair.
This sense of rediscovery and playfulness is something Chris inspires. Gently he encourages his clients to try something different, new. Yet always a style they will feel beautiful and confident in.
After receiving classical training at the highest standards and working as an educator at the world-renowned Vidal Sassoon academy in Los Angeles, Chris pursued apprenticeships with master stylists from around the world. Adopting elements from each experience, he has developed his own way of working with hair.
His unique approach prioritizes the individual's inherent beauty by working with their natural hair texture, hair color, bone structure and personal expression to develop cuts customized for their needs. Using no heat and minimal products, this is the Undressed method.
Chris currently works between salons in Austin, Texas and Venice Beach, California.
